Carat Global breaks records at Foodcycle Wandsworth
Last Friday 14 November 2014 a 10-strong team from Carat Global spent the day cooking up a feast at Foodcycle Wandsworth as part of #getDANandDirty.
#getDANandDirty is an initiative across Dentsu Aegis to encourage teams to build trust, have fun and do something good in the community. In the summer it involves working in community gardens and in the winter it is about feeding the homeless and socially isolated.
The team from Carat Global pulled out all the stops and fed 54 people with 21kg of food destined for the bin. They cooked a starter of winter vegetable soup with croutons, a main of penne with roasted veg and cheese, and for dessert banana and chocolate sauce crepes. This set the record for most meals served to date for Foodcycle Wandsworth!
Kemi Akinola from Foodcycle Wandsworth said: “We were really impressed with the level of engagement the volunteers showed. At no time was any guest left feeling isolated and we overheard many interesting conversations happening. They all came with a great team work attitude and despite the oven not working we banged out a super good, nutritious and filling meal.”
To date Dentsu Aegis volunteers have fed 91 people as part of #getDANandDirty resulting in 41kg of less food waste.
